What Is Preparation & Integration Therapy?
At The Integration Centre, Preparation & Integration Therapy is offered from a harm-minimisation framework. This service provides psychological support for adults exploring self-directed altered state of consciousness experiences.
Our focus is on preparation, emotional safety, and integration — helping clients reflect on and integrate insights from their experience, regulate emotions, and translate learnings into long-term growth. Clients undertake any experience independently, in their own time and setting, outside of therapy sessions. We do not provide therapeutic support during the self-directed altered state of consciousness experience itself.
How Preparation & Integration Therapy Works
This service is designed for individuals exploring self-directed altered states of consciousness expereiences who seek psychological support within clear professional boundaries.
- Preparation Therapy — Sessions focus on developing clarity, emotional grounding, coping strategies, and psychological readiness for a self-directed altered state of consciousness experience undertaken independently by the client. This phase ensures you feel informed, emotionally supported, and appropriately prepared.
- Integration Therapy — Following a self-directed altered state of consciousness experience undertaken in your own time and setting, integration sessions support you in reflecting on and making meaning of insights arising from the experience. We focus on translating insights into practical, sustainable growth while strengthening emotional regulation and psychological stability.
Preparation & Integration Therapy is psychological support only. No substances are supplied, administered, supervised, or recommended. All experiences are self-directed, and therapy occurs exclusively before and after the experience.
Who Can Benefit
Adults seeking psychological support before and after their self-directed altered state of consciousness experience.
Our Approach
At The Integration Centre, our psychologists work within clear ethical and professional boundaries. We combine evidence-based psychological methods with trauma-informed practice to provide a safe, structured, and non-judgemental space.
Sessions are tailored to your needs, focusing on emotional readiness, coping strategies, grounding techniques, and processing reflections from the experience. Our team meets you where you are, respecting your pace, context, and unique journey.
Safety & Suitability
Your wellbeing is our highest priority. Preparation & Integration Therapy is offered within defined ethical and clinical boundaries. We do not facilitate or supervise a altered state of consciousness experience, nor do we provide support during an altered state of consciousness experience. Any such experiences are undertaken independently and outside of therapy sessions. Sessions focus on readiness, coping strategies, grounding techniques, and potential psychological risks, ensuring clients can safely prepare for and process their experiences, with pacing and support adjusted to individual needs.
